5 Tips to Host a Great Karaoke Contest Party

Everyone loves a competition or contest. Particularly if it means a chance to show off a persons skills or talent, rather than just depending on luck. That is what makes a karaoke contest so popular.

You will mostly be hired by some organization, club or event to hold the karaoke contest. So to those attending and participating, in their minds it will be your contest, even though it was the organizers doing. You will be held responsible for anything that goes wrong, for example a mix up in contestants or poor judging. It's your good name that is at stake here. Knowing this, ensure that you keep as much control as possible. Know exactly what the plans of the organizers are, and perhaps give them suggestions as to how to ensure that the contest runs smoothly and is successful.

To begin with determine with the organizers what categories do they want. Normally it will be best male, female and duet. Then if it's a family event you could go by age groups as well, meaning, children, youth and adults. Another alternative will be perhaps style of music such as rock, country and western rap or golden oldies. What is determined will be the amount of time being allotted for this karaoke contest and the number of contestants.

Judging is critical in these events. If people don't feel the judging is fair, the crowd and participants will become very disgruntled, and you are the one that's going to end up with the bad name. So you have two choices, you can bring 2 or 3 judges with you, or have the organizers provide them. It is preferable to have three judges. If the organizers are providing the judges make sure you review them first, if you are hesitant about any of them then do not use them, A biased judge could ruin the whole karaoke event. If the organizers are supplying the judges perhaps they could present you with 6 individuals and you could pick three from this.

You take control of the contest registration forms. Ideally you will want to have the music selection posted where their choice could be made right on the form. This will in the long run help things to move more quickly, and be more organized at the time of the karaoke contest. Be sure that contestants know they must print their name clearly ,so you will be able to call it out when its time. You basically can use two methods to use to keep the order of contestants. You can either go alphabetically, or you can put all the names in a hat and pull them out at random. This way you are not going to get any bickering of who goes when.

Depending on how many categories you are having ,will determine how many contestants you are going to allow. There must be a cut off date for registration as well. For the scoring system by the judges there are all kinds of things you could use to score the contestants on, but this is a fun evening so keep it simple. An ideal way to score is how difficult the song was to sing between 1-50 and how good the performance was 1-100. That's really what karaoke is all about.

AAU Boys Basketball - A Crucial Step to Playing College Basketball

If you are looking to play college basketball at any level, AAU boys basketball has almost become a mandatory step in being recruited. College coaches today want to know that basketball is your passion and you are working all year to get better.

The AAU stands for the Amateur Athletic Union. AAU boys basketball has been on the scene for many years. The best basketball players use the spring season to not only keep playing basketball, but as a way to get noticed by college coaches. It's rare today to see a player who has signed to play college basketball that did not play AAU in the summer.

AAU boys basketball has gotten so competitive that there are now teams who have corporate sponsors, NBA player sponsors, and travel the country playing against the best competition. For instance, a top level player in my area named Reggie Bullock, who will play at UNC next year, played with a team sponsored by NBA great Chris Paul. This team traveled all around the country playing other elite teams.

My son recently signed to play college basketball at Montreat College. As he went through the recruitment process, one of the first questions coaches would ask him was about his AAU boys basketball experience. Coaches know that if a prospect is playing all year round, they are serious about working hard and getting better.

The USSSA (United States Specialty Sports Association) has grown in popularity in the last few years as an alternative. The USSSA host tournaments all across the country and they are starting to attract some of the very best talent also.

If you want to play college basketball, this level of basketball is an option you will want to quickly check in to. Coaches will want to see that you have this level of desire to get better and play against the best competition. As you develop an athletic resume and begin contacting college coaches about playing for their program, you will want to make sure AAU boys basketball is a part of your experience.

Planning Games For Your Baby Shower

Baby Shower Game Ideas
One of the biggest parts of the shower is the games you choose. Shower games not only make the party more fun, but it gets the guests interacting and can also "break the ice" between unfamiliar faces.

Many hosts plan an average of 1-3 games for the party, but if you are hosting the party, you should definitely make it your own. Here are some fun games you can have the guests play:

Name that baby!
Have each guest bring their baby picture and post them all on the wall, with numbers underneath. Have everyone guess what picture belongs to each guest. Once everyone has made their picks, reveal the names of each baby. The person with the most correct guesses wins a prize.

Diaper Dash

You have 2 infant baby dolls that are in need of a diaper change. Divide the guests into 2 relay teams. At the front of the room will be 2 tables with powder, diapers, and wipes. At the start of the game, the first player in line will grab the baby, rush to the table, and give the baby a diaper change. Each player has to use a wipe, powder and re-diaper the baby and then pass the baby to the next person in line. The first team to finish diapering the baby wins (all players have to change the baby before the team is complete).

Bottle Race

Fill baby bottles with a drink and the first person to finish the drink through the nipple wins.

Diaper Raffle

Ask your guests to bring diapers for the mother. The guests will receive one entry for each jumbo pack of diapers they bring. At the end of the shower, a name will be drawn and that person wins the prize. This is a great game, because mom gets to keep all the diapers, and the guests can win a prize!

Word Scramble

Make a list of baby items (bottles, pacifier, formula, breastmilk, diaper, baby wipes, thermometer, shampoo, pregnancy, etc.) Scramble the letters in the words, and make copies for everyone in the group. Give the players 2-3 minutes to unscramble. The winner is the first person to finish them all, or the person who has the most correct after the time is up.

Never Say Baby

At the beginning of the shower, give each guests 5 diaper pins. Throughout the party, the word "baby" is not allowed to be said by the people playing the game. If a player says baby, another player calls them on it and takes one of their diaper pins. At the end of the party, the person with the most pins wins.'

Planning A Limo Party And You're Hosting? Here Are Some Tips

I know some people simply hate to plan a party....and hosting a party as well! But since I've been in the party-planning and limo rental service for a long, I've got some tips that could ease your party-planning woes. Don't forget, if you're holding a party and swearing at everyone because you're hosting it, what's the point of having the party in the first place if it's to torture yourself?

  • If you're hosting the party and heading out somewhere after lounging around in your home, book a limousine early to make the party worthwhile. It's not necessary but it will make your party and incredibly special one, especially if it's someone's birthday, a wedding anniversary or a graduation ceremony. Limos are not only for proms, weddings, business meetings, proposals and bachelor/bachelorette parties! You can use a limo in a lot of ways and your imagination is the only limit.

  • You don't have to be in the kitchen the whole time! The host is meant to enjoy herself or himself as well. Prepare all the essentials before hand together with a couple of volunteers in the form of close friends and family members. This way, when the party is ready to roll, so are you!

  • Clean your house, plan your menu, shop for groceries, buy and make decoration, setting the food and everything related to the party-planning process should be done the day before. Except for the cooking, you can do these things leisurely over a couple of days. Why wait until the day of the party to slave it out like your live depends on it?

  • Since you're going to heading out to a different location after the gathering at your place, your house is going toned some cleaning. Can you get someone to come in to help you clean up? Can you afford to hire someone to come sweep-up and wash the dishes for you? After the limo drops you home, I swear you'll not want to lift a single toe for any of those things!

All in all, having a limo party is an ingenious idea that I find very enchanting and memorable. So, don't get yourself overworked and ruffled up because of the party you're hosting. Just scream for HELP when you need it and you'll survive the hosting enough to enjoy it.

Ride on Toys For Happy Kids

Ride on toys have been a favorite of both boys and girls for decades. Years ago, the only kind of ride on toy available was the type you had to push with your feet, which can be a little difficult for really small children. (They tend to always scoot backwards!) But now, there are countless motorized, battery-operated toys for children to enjoy.

Vehicles aren't just a "boy's toy" anymore. Girls love tooling around in their Barbie Jeeps as much as anyone. But instead of just having your standard "Cozy Coupe" or Barbie Jeep to choose from, there are many other options for the discerning child.

If you have more than one small child, then a two-seater vehicle is ideal for both to share. Trucks, jeeps, and cars come in all colors, makes and models to suit your child's individual personality. There are also battery-operated Go Karts which come in several different sizes depending on the age of your child. Four-wheelers and dirt bikes also are available in battery-operated child sizes. Lest you feel that a two-wheeled dirt bike is too dangerous for your child, never fear. There are motorcycles with training wheels as well.

For the little boy in your life who wants nothing more than to grow up and become a fireman, there are motorized fire trucks just for him! It even has flashing lights, a siren, and a working fire hose and megaphone. Or if you have a future race car driver on your hands, the Ferrari race car with real rubber tires can reach the speeds of 5 miles per hour! This is faster than most other battery powered vehicles, which only go 3 mph at maximum speed.

Corvettes, BMWs, classic cars, Volkswagon Bugs, Ferraris, Jaguars, Mercedes, Porsches, Mini Coopers, and dune buggies are available for tiny car enthusiasts. These cars have very authentic stickers and badges, and even realistic alloy-like wheels. The sports cars also come with wing mirrors and a sports steering wheel. The bodywork and paint is very durable and scratch resistant.

Prices range from $190 to $700 depending on the size and type of vehicle you are looking for. Many battery-operated toys come with free shipping. All items include a battery charger and most of the cars are designed to accommodate children ages 2-6 depending on the child's weight and size.

The toddler and preschool years are all about your child gaining a degree of independence. They want to be just like you. Nothing makes them feel more grown-up then getting to ride around in their own vehicle. Now they can do it safely and very much in style!

Boy's Birthday Party Invitations For Your Little Man's Birthday Party Celebration

Are you having a birthday party for a boy soon? You can do something special for your little boy and make this party something to remember with a great theme and boys birthday party invitations. The great thing about sending out kids birthday party invitations is that it is a reminder to parents to come, and it gives the child that you are sending it to something to remember the party by.

Also, you can include instructions for parents in your invitations, which as any parent who has ever received a verbal and generic invitation to a birthday party knows is a lifesaver. You can tell parents what type of gifts your child likes, the kind of dress required and how much to spend on a gift, so that they don't have to wonder if other parents are getting more extravagant gifts.

Choosing a theme for these boys birthday party invitations can be intimidating at first because there are so many choices available. Kids party invitations come in so many colors, shapes, sizes and themes that picking one will be difficult. The first thing is to sit down and make a list of your child's interests. Then, narrow the list down to just a couple and pick one.

One of the most popular themes in boys birthday party invitations is Star Wars. If you plan to send out Star Wars themed kids birthday invitations then you can make them yourself or buy them online. The Star Wars font is available online if you choose to create them on your computer. You can also find an all-in-one Star Wars party kit that will likely include Star Wars themed cups, plates as well as decorations and party favors as well as invitations.

Another popular theme in boys party invitations is the Space Theme. If you want to use the space theme, a fun way to make decorations is to have the party in the evening, and take turns looking through a telescope. You can also make a model of the solar system in your home or backyard which is a fun project for you and your child to do together.

If your child is into Pokemon then Pokemon themed boys birthday party invitations may be just the ticket. These are available online as well, and you can give out stuffed Pokemon or Pokemon trading cards as Party favors. You can even have the children dress up as their favorite Pokemon if you would like, but make sure to give the other parents plenty of notice for this activity.

The Disney movie Cars is an extremely popular theme for boys and your child will love boys birthday party invitations that are along that theme. You can find party favors and many different types of party supplies with the Cars theme, including cups, plates, serving platters and other paper products for use at your party.

If you child hasn't yet seen Jurassic Park odds are that they love dinosaurs. A Fun Gadget For Kids - The Backyard Safari Bug Vacuum

As a father of two young youths, we are always seeking fun gadgets to play with. Our most favorite fun gadget ever is the Backyard Safari Bug Vacuum. This toy captures bugs through the use of a battery operated gun-style vacuum. The insects are sucked into a clear plastic capsule that is complete with a magnifying glass for viewing.

The Summer Of The Insect Adventure

In total honesty, we played with this fun gadget the entire summer. We caught every tiny insect that we could capture. The vacuum is powerful enough to suck most insects directly into the attached holding capsule, yet it isn't strong enough to injure the insects. The holding capsule is complete with a magnifying glass and a flip bottom so that the insects can be easily viewed and released once the observation is complete.

A Complete World Of Fun Gadgets For Insect Observations

Backyard Safari has created supplemental fun gadget that work with the bug vacuum. The bug habitat is large enough to accommodate a number of insects. However you want to insure that you do not combine insects that consume one another or you will have an entirely different observation within moments.

If your child enjoys long walks while bug collecting, there are pocket size bug habitats that your child can attach to a backpack or belt loop. These tiny pocket watch shaped habitats provide the perfect environment for a short-term guest. There are two different designs, one design is intended for any type of bug and the other is designed specifically as an ant habitat.

The Backyard Safari Bug Vacuum is a fun gadget for any boy or girl. I must admit, as fun gadgets go, this also makes a great spider catcher inside the house as well and would be a hit with many moms.
